We repair, install and maintain walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers in Greater Boston. That is the whole business. No reach-ins, no ovens, no rooftop air conditioning, no home appliances. Specialising is not a marketing angle — it is the reason the diagnosis is right the first time.
Why walk-ins only
Every other company you will find for this work is a generalist. Some are HVAC contractors who also do refrigeration. Some are mechanical contractors where walk-ins are one line in a list that also includes building automation and duct cleaning. Several are residential appliance companies reaching up into commercial work, where a walk-in box sits in a menu next to wine coolers and tumble dryers.
None of that is dishonest. It just means the person who arrives has spent most of this month on something else. A walk-in has failure modes that do not exist anywhere else in a kitchen — defrost termination, low-ambient head pressure control, vapour barrier failure in a panel, heated door frames, EPR valves on a shared suction line. A technician who sees those weekly reads them quickly. A technician who sees them twice a year replaces a compressor and hopes.
What we are licensed and certified to do
- EPA Section 608 Universal. Required to purchase and handle refrigerant. Universal covers small appliances, high-pressure systems and low-pressure systems.
- Massachusetts refrigeration licence. Massachusetts does not licence “HVAC technicians” generically — the refrigeration licence is the relevant credential, and state law requires it for refrigeration work over ten tons in aggregate. Aggregate capacity on a commercial site crosses ten tons quickly, so we run licensed technicians on all commercial walk-in work regardless of individual unit size. The licence number is on our vehicles and our invoices, as the regulations require.
- Insured. Certificate of insurance provided on request, before work starts, for any property manager or landlord who needs one on file.
How we work
- The phone is answered by a person. Any hour, every day. If the fault is something you can check yourself in two minutes, we will tell you that on the phone instead of selling you a visit.
- One response promise, written once. Four hours on an emergency in the core ring, same day before 2pm. Same day before noon in the outer ring. You will not find three different numbers on three different pages of this site.
- Prices are published. Diagnostic, repair ranges, installation, maintenance. All of it on the pricing page.
- You get the paperwork. A written report every visit with temperatures, superheat and subcool, findings, work done and a refrigerant leak-rate record — which since January 2026 is a document you are expected to keep.
- We size on the manufacturer’s own tools and show you the printout, rather than quoting a box from a catalogue and hoping.
What we will not do
We will not add refrigerant to a leaking system and call it a repair. We will not quote a new box when a $260 defrost board is the actual fault. We will not claim a two-hour response to towns we cannot reach in two hours. And we will not put stock photographs of other people’s technicians on this website and let you assume they work here — when we have photographs of our own work, those are the ones that will appear.
Who we work for
Restaurants, cafes and bars. Markets, grocers and convenience stores. Package stores. Caterers and commissary kitchens. School and college kitchens. Hospitals and long-term care. Hotels. Breweries. Florists. Food and beverage wholesalers. Laboratory and biotech cold rooms in the Cambridge and Longwood cluster.
Questions we get asked
How do I verify your licence?
Ask for the number on the phone, or look at the invoice — Massachusetts requires the refrigeration licence number on commercial vehicles, invoices and business stationery. You can check it with the state’s Office of Public Safety and Inspections. We would encourage you to, on any contractor.
Can you provide a certificate of insurance?
Yes, before work starts, made out to whoever needs it on file. Property managers and landlords ask for this routinely and it should never be a delay.
Are you related to the other refrigeration companies in Boston?
No. This is a walk-in specialist operating independently under its own name, with its own phone line, its own technicians and its own pricing.
Why is there no email address on this website?
Because refrigeration problems are not email problems. When your box is warm you need a person on the phone, and the form on every page routes straight to a technician without you having to compose anything.
